I have the honour to inform you that be a
question has recently been raised with ḍ re-
gard to the payment of interest on the furniture
of the Covt House of a Crown Colony when the
Governor is on leave.
2. I ap advised that the charge of 5% must be
regarded as a standing deduction from the Gov'
salary and, as such, is payable by the person
who draws the salary. Thus while the Gov is on,
full-pay leave the whole of the charge must be
defrayed by him and, while he is on half pay
leave, half should be paid by him and half by
the 0.A.G..
3. As the deterioration of furniture must
be regarded as continuing even when it is not
in use, these rule will apply not only in the
cases where the 0.A.G. occupies Gove House bat
also in those cases where the house is unoccupied
during the Cov's absence.
I have &&.
